CORMORANT. 5 eggs are deposited. On the Scottish and northern coasts the Common Tern is not often found, but the Arctic Tern (Sterna macrourd) comes to supply its place. There are ten or eleven species of British Terns. On many of the English coasts, especially those that look towards the Channel, may be seen a tolerably large black-feathered bird, having a yellowish countenance, a decidedly long and rather hooked bill, and a pair of green eyes.
