Females largerand more beautiful than the male. GENERIC CHARACTER. Bill arched from the bafe, which is covered with a wax-likemembrane or cere. SPECIFIC CHARACTER AND STNONTMS. Male: Cere and feet yellow. Back and wings rufous brick-colour, with black fpots. Beneath pale ferruginous, with dark longi-tudinal flreaks. Tail rounded at the end ; of a pale grey colour, witha black band near the extremity. Female: lefs bright, and fpottedwith dufky colour.
