A trolley line, belowgrade, eight miles long, extends to the chiefpoints of attraction. A speedway, one mile inlength, is being completed. The Schuylkill isfrequently tlie scene of regattas, and there archandsome stone boat houses on its eastern bank. ilany fine monuments have been placed in thepark. The Washington Monument by Siemeringof Berlin is the most imposing. Funds for itserection were provided by the Society of the Cin-cinnati, the subscriptions, begim in 1819, ag-gregating $2.50,000 when the monument was un-veiled in May, 1897. It stands at the GreenStreet entrance, the termination of the ParkBoulevard. This thoroughfare, projected in 1903,is to be 160 feet wide from City Hall to LoganSquare, and thence 300 feet wide to the park. Inthe same year was authorized the construction ofthe Torresdale Boulevard.
