The institu-tion is now governed by a board of park commissioners thinned where necessity required, and rustic seats andbowers made from the felled timber. Around the crestsof hills, roads and paths have been driven and foot pas-sages made an endless labyrinth for the mooning loversand the more staid fresh air seekers of older growth.The natural wildness of the place has not been vitiatedby the designers of the thoroughfares, but ratherenhanced. Scattered about at convenient intervals maybe found seats, tables and covered platforms, for the useof picnicers and pleasure seekers, while swings andsprings are not wanting. give thanks to the foresight of the present commissionersof Ross Park. Besides the numerous foot paths, the beautiful carriagedrives through the most interesting part of the parkbring out many fine equipages on pleasant days, whichadd materially to the vivacity of the scene. The car-riage entrance to the park is guarded by twoheavy brick pillars.. Five years ago the amusement privilegesof Ross Park were leased to the BinghamtonRailroad Company, and it is now providedwith all varieties of outdoor recreations, re-freshment stands, merry-go-rounds, and simi-lar innocent pleasures. One of the prominentdiversions is a switch-back, represented inour engraving. Besides these material min-istrations, the a?sthetic nature is served withmusic from gay to grave, from lively tosevere, on every afternoon and evening of the week,with a more pretentious concert on Sunday afternoons.The best of order is preserved upon the grounds andupon the cars which land the greater number of visitorsat the park g
