January i, 1895,between the general office and Stations B and C. Negotiations are now being carried on with theAllegheny Traction Company for the transfer of mailfrom the Pittsburg to the Allegheny office. This com- declaring that each company has acted nobly in theendeavor to give the city of Pittsburg an improved mailservice. A PECULIAR CURVE AT CINCINNATI. The accompanying plan of a piece of special workrecently put in at the intersection of Glenway and Wilderavenues at Cincinnati shows a peculiar method of avoid-ing a switchback or a heavy curve on a grade. Both theup and down cars make the loop in the same way andthe curve is entirely on the down grade. If this curvehad not been put in as it is, it would have been necessaryto have either a switchback and change ends at this pointor else have a curve on a very steep grade. The specialwork was made by the Johnson Company, Johnstown, Pa.This construction has attracted a great deal of attentionfrom experts on account of its novelty.

Holmes, of the Citizens TractionCompany, has offered to carry letter boxes on cars ofhis line. His proposal will probably be adopted, as Post-master ODonnell is in favor of it. The prime mover in promoting street car mail servicein Pittsburg has been John C. ODonnell. A consulta-tion between Mr. ODonnell and J. M. Masten, assistantsuperintendent of the railway mail service, representingthe government, and prominent street railway men ofPittsburg, resulted in the best of feeling upon the sub-ject. Col. G. W. Elkins and C. L. Magee, especially,became warm advocates of the plans broached by thepostal authorities, and enlisted others in the cause. Asa result of the good feeling between the postal authori-ties and the traction people, the Duquesne, the FifthAvenue, the Citizens and the Birmingham TractionCompanies have agreed te carry
