In some parts of the country, however, amore elaborate oven is used. It consists ofa hole some three feet in diameter and twofeet in depth, and is heated in the follownigmanner: — It is filled to within six inches ofthe top with round and hard stones, similarto those which have already been described,and upon them a fire is built and maintainedfor some time. When the stones are thoughtto be sufficiently heated, the embers areswept away, and the food is simply laid uponthe stones and allowed to remain there untilthoroughly cooked.
