So everytime he received his fish he would backsquare out, move a distance of three or fourdogs, and force himself in line again, thus re-ceiving double the share of any other dog.But this joke of Barbekarks bespoke toomuch of the game many men play upon theirfellow-beings, and, as I noticed it, I deter-mined to check his doggish propensities.Still, the amusing and the singular way inwhich he evidently watched me induced amoments pause in my intention. Each dog thankfully took his capelin ashis turn came round, but Barbekark, findinghis share came twice as often as his compan-ions, appeared to shake his tail twice as thank-fully as the others. A twinkle in his eyes asthey caught mine seemed to say,l Keep dark;these ignorant fellows dont know the gameIm playing. I am confoundedly hungry.Seeing my face smiling at his trick, he nowcommenced making another change, thusgetting three portions to each of the others
