Description
English: Historic Waihohonu Hut, Tongariro Northern Circuit, Tongariro National Park, New Zealand
The hut was 1901 built from two layers of corrugated iron, filled with pumice for insulation

Inscriptions:

  • left window: "OHINEPANGO SRINGS 1M" (Ohinepango Springs, 1 mile)
  • entrance: "WAIHOHONU HUT 3750 ft"
  • Right window: "Mt TONGARIRO 6458 ft"
Deutsch: nicht mehr benützte Museumshütte, ersetzt durch die neue Waihohonu Hütte
(und diese inzwischen durch die ganz neue Great-Walk-Hütte)
auf dem Tongariro Northern Circuit, Tongariro National Park (Great Walk), Neuseeland
Die Hütte wurde 1901 aus zwei Lagen Wellblech errichtet, mit einer isolierenden Füllung Bimsstein (vom Tongario-Vulkan)
