Description

Pasan la mayor parte de su vida en la copa de los árboles, pero los machos defenderan su territorio de sus rivales y algunas veces descenderán a beber en los charcos. 


A diferencia de la mayoría de las mariposas, ellas no se alimentan de las flores, pero si de la mielada que es secretada por los áfidos , la savia que exuda de los árboles, el estiércol, orina y cadáveres de animales.


los coleccionistas utilizan cadáveres de animales "en un estado algo avanzado de descomposicion" para atraer a los machos hacia el suelo.


Ponen los huevos a finales del verano en la parte superior en las hojas de los sauces y varias especies de álamo


Los adultos eclosionan en julio, volando hasta finales agosto.
