Description |
English: Two 'Invincible'-class battlecruisers at Scapa Flow, 1915-17, with a red cone buoy in the foreground The only British ships with the mast and funnel configuration shown were the three battlecruisers of the 'Invincible' class and the date has to in the range of 1915-17. 'Invincible' did not receive her raised forefunnel until February 1915 and was sunk at Jutland, 31 May 1916. 'Indomitable' and 'Inflexible' had raised forefunnels by 1914 and both lost their fore topmasts during 1917. All three were attached to the Grand Fleet at Scapa Flow, Orkney, which is where Wyllie appears to have shown two of them, though which is uncertain from the drawing. |
