Description
English: The explosion caused by the two improvised explosive devices built for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Large Vehicle Post-Blast Investigation course sent a fireball and debris into the air over the Barry M. Goldwater Range’s Yodaville complex in Yuma, Ariz., Dec. 15, 2009. Two vehicles were rigged with IEDs and detonated to provide the students with a blast scene to investigate. The students investigated the scene of the explosions to determine the vehicles involved, the type of explosives used, and ultimately bring the culprits to justice. The weeklong, multiagency course is taught by FBI Special Agent Bomb Technician Kevin Miles, and is the only course of its type in the world. Miles has travelled to 42 states and 41 countries to teach the course, but this was the first time the course was set in an urban environment, providing students with the most realistic training to date.
