English: USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7) – Assault Amphibian Vehicle (AAV) crewmen from 2nd Assault Amphibian Vehicle platoon, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare to off load from the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima Oct. 26, 2011. The crewmen practiced loading and off loading their AAV’s from the USS Iwo Jima as part of the Amphibious Squadron 8 (PHIBRON 8)/ MEU Integration Exercise, known as PMINT. The AAV’s also loaded onto the USS New York and USS Gunston Hall, the other two ships that make up PHIBRON 8. PMINT will take place Oct. 24 to Nov. 3 and is focused on building the Navy-Marine Team and establishing the working relationships and practices necessary to conduct operations from the sea.
