Summary[edit]

Description
English: Naval Air Facility, Atsugi, Japan (Sep. 24, 2002) -- U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Klas “Santa” Ohman assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron One Nine Five (VFA-195) has been selected to fly a replica of the Wright brothers 1902 glider in Kitty Hawk, N.C., during a commemorative event called “Return to Kitty Hawk” Oct. 5-8. Events are designed to celebrate the 100th year of controlled flight. Ohman, a USS Kitty Hawk-based F/A-18C “Hornet” pilot, will be joined by Army Capt. Tanya Markow, an AH-64A Apache pilot. USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) is the only permanently forward deployed U.S. aircraft carrier, operating out of Yokosuka, Japan. The replica of the 1902 glider is built by the Wright Brothers Aeroplane Company, an educational organization established to further the interests of young people in aviation careers.
