English: Persian Gulf (April 25, 2005) - Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Able Seaman Combat Systems Operators Clint Baird and Mickael Renda operate the combat operations database aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Antietam (CG 54). Antietam is forward deployed to the Persian Gulf with about 20 RAN Sailors aboard as the flagstaff for Commander, Task Force Five Eight (CTF-58). This marks the first time since World War II an Australian coalition commander has led a task group in operations. Antietam is the first U.S Navy warship to operate as a task force flagship for a permanently embarked coalition commander. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist Seaman Joseph Ebalo (RELEASED) |
