(Aug. 17, 2005) - Photographer's Mate 3rd Class David Didier, assigned to the "War Eagles" of Patrol Squadron Sixteen (VP-16), utilizes the base refueling facility to refuel a government vehicle with compressed natural gas (CNG). Natural gas is environmentally friendly and more cost efficient than gasoline. The Energy Policy Act of 1992 (EPACT) requires that 75 percent of a federal fleet's annual acquisitions in metropolitan areas be capable of operating on alternative fuels.
