English: PERSIAN GULF (May 31, 2007) - Catapult safety observer, Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) 1st Class Daniel Brandau, signals that an F/A-18C Hornet assigned to the "Argonauts" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147 is ready for launch from the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). Catapult safety observers are responsible for the safety of all personnel involved in launching aircraft from the carrier's four catapults. John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is conducting operations in support of the global war on terrorism and is participating in an Expeditionary Strike Force Exercise consisting of three Strike Groups: John C.
