Summary[edit]

Description
English: VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Aug. 7, 2007) - The Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana Chief Petty Officers (CPO) Club parking lot was turned into a disaster zone when personnel came together to participate in a full scale chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosive (CBRNE) exercise. Besides personnel from NAS Oceana, participants included Virginia Beach Fire and Rescue and several local hospitals, including Virginia Beach General and Sentara Leigh Hospital. The exercise was a culmination of the Intallation Protection Program (IPP). The purpose of IPP was to prepare NAS Oceana for an actual disaster. The disaster drill gave base officials the opportunity to test Oceana's emergency response capabilities, as well as a training opportunity for all military and civilians on how to respond to a CBRNE attack.
