English: SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (Sept. 12, 2007) - Master-at-Arms 1st Class Hector Cardona, Task Group 40.9 interpreter, demonstrates the proper way to insert a syringe into the vein to members of the Dominican Defense Force during the Combat Medical Life Savers course. Task Group 40.9 is deployed under the operational control of U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command for the Global Fleet Station (GFS) pilot deployment to the Caribbean Basin and Central America. This deployment is designed to validate the GFS concept for the Navy and support U.S. Southern Command objectives for its area of responsibility by enhancing cooperative partnerships with regional maritime services and improving operational readiness for the participating partner nations.
