Description
English: PASCAGOULA, Miss. (April 24, 2009) Damage Controlman 1st Class Edilberto Abad and Damage Controlman 2nd Class Robert Smith, both assigned to the repair division of the amphibious assault ship Pre-Commissioning Unit Makin Island (LHD 8), prepare to use an aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) hose during an at-sea fire party drill. The at-sea fire party is the ship's first method of response to a possible casualty situation (fire or flooding) when the ship is underway. This was the first main space fire drill held aboard Makin Island since the ship's delivery to the U.S. Navy April 16.
