Description
English: SASEBO, Japan (Sept. 26, 2007) - Sailors of the former rescue and salvage ship USS Safeguard (ARS 50) depart as the ship’s decommissioning flag is lowered to officially transfer the ship to the Military Sealift Command. Safeguard served 22 years in the U.S. Navy prior to the transfer and has served as part of the forward-deployed naval forces for the past nine years.
