ng a Dec. tomb with a recumbent figure under a crocketedcanopy. Another tomb in a canopied recess of the S. aisle, moreto the east, passes, without apparent reason, as that of Sir Williamde la Pole, the first Mayor of Hull, and his wife. Both thesetombs have been restored. Across the street, N.W. of the church, is Trinity House (pi.D 3), established in 1369 and rebuilt in 1753, a kind of alms-house for distressed mariners of the Merchant service or theirwidows. It contains pictures of the battle of the Nile, the landingof William III. at Brixham, and several local celebrities, includingCaptain Cook, and Andrew Marvel, M.P. (1660—1) and poet. There is also a museum with Arctic curiosities and other relics. There are many interesting curiosities in the Museum of theRoyal Institution, Albion Street (pi. B 2 ; adm. by membersorder)—amongst them, eight human figures carved in wood dug upat Boos in Holderness from a clay bed ; Arctic fauna, bronze andflint implements from the wolds, etc.

Fromthe Paragon station the line forms an arc round the northern halfof the town, passing the Botayiic Gardens and three other suburbanstations, from the last of which, Wilmington, it strikes N.E. outof the Withernsea branch and continues in that direction all theway to Hornsea, passing eight more stations, and traversing a richagricultural district.
