Reasons of reverting back[edit]

I just reverted the file to the 19:50, 28 September 2008 version by ksiom. Here I will give the reasons of reverting back.

Although the law concerning the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Korea states the colours of the elements as "red", "blue", "gold" ... It does not have exact specification on those colours. (e.g. Pantone codes ... ) Conventionally, there are two versions in use, one as 16:09, 30 August 2008 version, the other as 19:50, 28 September 2008 version. The latter version (with two-coloured petals, shade in lighter colour) can be seen at this page, which is an official Korean Government website for national symbols. The former, although cannot be seen at official government websites, dominates search results on Korean search engines, such as Naver and Nate. If I should choose one between two versions, I would select the former one. The reasons:

  1. The law states the colour of the petal is "gold". The brownish colour of the latter version is not certainly "gold".
  2. It meets colour scheme of the national flag.
  3. Since there is no "shade" in petals, it better corresponds to the regulations.
  4. It looks more "modern".

I like the "15:40, 27 February 2010" version better, but I think the color of the flower should be adjust more towards yellow/gold... AnonMoos (talk) 17:46, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The only thing I know for sure is that the Pantone shades for the S. Korea flag is 186C for red and 294C for blue. I admit that my resources on South Korea are pretty slim, so I am not bothered either way about what is used. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 18:23, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Color update...[edit]

Hello, After solving the revert war for the flag, I am here to solve the revert war for the emblem. Although there are no exact specifications of the "gold" (금색) and "dark gold" (진한 금색) for the emblem, the official government .ai file (dated 15 June, 2016) [7] gives these colors:

Color Hex triplet
Gold #DCB853
Dark Gold #A29360

I would use these colors from now since they are close to the colors currently being used by the government. Legally though, there has been no official change in the color specifications since this issue was discussed above by User:Nudimmud 7 years ago.

The red and blue will be from the colors I converted for

File_talk:Flag_of_South_Korea.svg#Proposal:_A_more_direct_interpretation_of_colors_specified_in_the_Flag_Act

Color Hex triplet
Red #CD2E3A
Blue #0047A0

Please be aware that you are editing national symbols the next time you want to change the colors or other specifications for a national symbol; please don't do what User:Supreme Dragon did and suddenly change it. Sometimes, even government sources can be wrong... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reepy1 (talk • contribs) 20:19, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I will NOT be using the emblem .ai file created by the government. I will just be changing the colors of the file created by User:Ksiom via code modification, and not by using Inkscape or Illustrator to create more garbage code... Reepy1 (talk) 20:24, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I will not be changing the size of spaces between "대한민국" as that is not specified by law either. Reepy1 (talk) 20:55, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I approve of these new colors. – Illegitimate Barrister (talk) 21:32, 6 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
