The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) is the largest sanctioning body of motorsports in the United States. The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the w:NASCAR Cup Series, w:Xfinity Series and the w:Camping World Truck Series. It was formed in 1948, racing Modified and Roadster cars. A stock car division called Strictly Stock started in 1949, which evolved to the current NASCAR Cup Series.
