The Regent Street Bus Cavalcade or Year of the Bus Cavalcade was a bus rally in central London on 22 June 2014. Organised by Transport for London as part of the Year of the Bus celebrations, it showcased the history and evolution of London buses. The main feature was a static display along Regent Street, from Piccadilly Circus to Oxford Circus. Beforehand, most of the buses made their way to the street under their own power - escorted in batches from a mustering point in Lambeth Palace Road, over Westminster Bridge, through Parliament Square and along Whitehall.

The official visitor pamphlet (www.ltmuseum.co.uk/assets/downloads/pdfs/YOTB_Cavalcade.pdf) specified the description and location of 48 buses (numbered 1 to 48), plus the position of other attractions given letters A to M (these included another bus, the mobile exhibition designated C). The numbering loosely corresponded to their respective age - No. 1 being the oldest. In practice, this scheme was followed, although the precise positions were different for several buses and attractions, and there were some changes to the bus display, as follows:

  • There were two un-numbered late entries, positioned between Exhibits 5 & 6, - 935 (XL 1204) and S454 (XL 8962)
  • Exhibit 17 (the trolleybus) was positioned out of order - which became: 13, 14, 17, 15, 16, 18, 19
  • Exhibit 39 was not present - it was meant to be the preserved 1985 Optare City Pacer minibus OV2 (C526 DYT) (named "Hurricane"), ex-London Buses (Roundabout)
  • Exhibit C, the mobile exhibition bus (R197 DDX) was positioned between No. 38 and 40, in the gap where 39 should have been
