Untitled[edit]

Mucuna urens has been used as soup thickener in most part of West African for centuries now. In the eastern part of Nigeria, it is a known soup additive. However, a lot has been speculated about it effect on sperm consistency and motility but little research work has been made on it. In 2001, Dr. Paul Udoh and his research student Ekpenyong Joseph from the University of Calabar, Nigeria published an article on the effects of crude extract of mucuna urens on the gonads of male rats. their aim had been to ascertain the route of action of the drug and possible usage as a male contraceptive regime.

Their efforts has been ongoing but due to funding, the speed at which the research is undertaken is slow. I believe with more research conducted with this plant, it is possible to achieve their desired result.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.138.15.2 (talk • contribs) 30 September 2008‎ (UTC)
