Note: This template is used on a lot of pages. In order not to put too much load on the servers, edits should be kept to a bare minimum. Please discuss proposed changes on the talk page first. Afterwards, changes can initially be done at and tested with Template:States of the United States/sandbox. Editing a template causes all pages that use the template to be re-rendered. If the template is used often, this can put a lot of load on the servers since it fills up the job queue. Template parameters

prefix	prefix to use before the subdivision name in the generated link to the full target page name		empty	optional
presep	separator to use between the prefix and the subdivision name in the generated link to the full target page name		space	optional
sufsep	separator to use between the subdivision name and the suffix in the generated link to the full target page name		space	optional
suffix	suffix to use after the subdivision name in the generated link to the full target page name		empty	optional
showcode	set a non-empty value in order to display the subdivision code after the subdivision name		yes	optional
all	normally not used, this can be set temporarily to a non-empty value in order to display links to all possible subdivision names (including their known aliases), without checking for their existence		empty	optional
