A Pallet Shuttle Barge or PSB is a freight barge designed to operate on inland waterways for the transport of goods on pallets or in big bags. It is a catamaran or a monohull , 50 m long and 6,6 m wide, with a carrying capacity of 300 T . It’s draught is up to 2,2 m when fully laden.

The most important differences in comparison to the traditional inland navigation inland vessels are:

• Goods are carried on a deck, not in a hold • Safe short loading/unloading process, adapted to specific requirements of users • Smaller size of barge, resulting in lower operational costs • Equipped with it’s own crane, enabling independent loading/unloading • Azimuth thruster propulsion • No living accommodation on board of the barge • Single crew

It was invented by Antoon Van Coillie and designed to respond to the mobility and logistic issues caused by traffic congestion in Belgium and the Netherlands, which constitute its original operations area.
