John King was born in 1951 in Belleville Canada.

His photography explores themes that include a sense of place, the built environment and human presence in the landscape.

John has been making photographs for about 35 years. In 1980 he received an Ontario Arts Council grant to produce the series “Objects On Land” which portrayed man made structures in the landscape. This work was presented as 4”x5” B&W contact prints and was exhibited in several solo and group shows in Canada. A series of images depicting the small Ontario town of Aurora was also made during the 1980’s using 8”x10” B&W film and presented as contact prints. Prints from these series are in public and private collections.

Recently he has been using digital cameras to produce colour images of the Bonavista Peninsula in the Canadian province of Newfoundland where he now lives. He has produced one small folio of 16 images entitled “Bonavista” which is a hand stitched book of original inkjet prints on archival cotton rag paper. This book is in private collections in Australia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, USA and Canada. Copies of this book are individually printed on request.
