You described the plane of Quentin Roosevelt in this picture as Nieuport 28, that's not correct.

The plane is a Nieuport 27. The difference between a Nieuport 27 und a Nieuport 28 is the connection between the two wings. The Nieuport 27 was the last of the Nieuport "v-strut" aircraft to see service. The Nieuport 28 used two parallel struts for the wing connection. You can easily see the V-strut in your picture. In the english wikipedia article Nieuport 28, you can see the parallel struts. Chile1853
