Er zählt mit einer Flügelspannweite von bis zu 2,9 Metern zu den größten flugfähigen Vögeln der Welt. Mit 225 bis 250 Brutpaaren ist der Bartgeier einer der seltensten Greifvögel Europas
English: Description: The Lammergeier or Bearded Vulture, Gypaetus barbatus ("Bearded Vulture-Eagle"), is an Old World vulture, the only member of the genus Gypaetus.
