The paintings depicts the Rostov Monastery of St. Boris and Gleb (founded 1363), situated between Rostov and Uglich, in the urban locality Borisoglebsky, Yaroslavl Oblast.
Nikolai Ivanovich Borovskoy (born 1946) is a Soviet and Russian painter and a teacher of art, a People's Artist of the Russian Federation, a full member of Russian Academy of Arts.
