English: The Cape Leeuwin water wheel is a water wheel built in 1895 to supply water to the nearby Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse at the south western tip of Western Australia. The water flowing over the wheel activated a hydraulic ram, which pumped some of it through a pipe to the lighthouse. Initially, the water supply was used by the lighthouse's builders to make mortar, and later it was connected to the lighthouse keepers' cottages. The wheel slowly became encrusted in calcified lime. As the water level in the area has dropped in recent years, an electric pump is now used to send water to the wheel to keep it moist and prevent cracking.
