English: The Gymnasium Athenaeum (i.e. Athenaeum grammar school), established in 1588, in Stade, Lower Saxony, Germany. The Athenaeum had several earlier locations before it moved in its current site in 1926. The school compound comprises four major buildings and smaller outbuildings, a sports hall and a indoor swimming pool (of 1961/1962). The major buildings are (1) the Altbau part (i.e. old building; built in 1890/1891 by Heinrich wilhelm August Schwägermann for the Stade Teachers' Training College [Lehrerseminar Stade], est. in 1789, closed in 1925) with its eastern (front) façade towards Harsefelder Straße, (2) the Mittelbau part (i.e. middle[-aged] building, erected in 1958 including special rooms for arts, natural sciences and the school observatory, (3) the Neubau part (i.e. new building, built in 1981/1982, also lodging special rooms for chemistry and the library) with its eastern (front) façade towards Harsefelder Straße containing today's main school entrance and (4) the Erweiterungsbau (i.e. extension building, completed in 2012).
