At the end of the seventeenth century, Pierre Fauqier entrusted the alteration of his mansion to the Nîmes architect Gabriel Dardailhon. The decoration of the monumental gateway already displays eighteenth century taste : a garland of flowers arranged beneath a cornice supported by two consoles, and an escutcheon ready for initials or a coat of arms. Dardailhon also designed the interior grand staircase.
