Bohlen Gross & Moyer was, for many years, the oldest men and boys clothing store in Allentown. It opened in 1847 as a dry goods store by Henry Schnurman who was originally a cigar manufacturer, and in 1850 moved to 721 Hamilton Street, near the corner of Hamilton and Hall. In 1856, Henry C Roth joined with Schnurman, the firm becoming known as Schnurman, Roth & Company.

Known as the "Anchor Clothing Hall", Henry Schurnman passed in 1875 and Roth purchased a larger interest in the business. He joined with Schurnman's brother, Joseph and William Sourwine, and in 1888, the firm became Schurnman, Roth and Sourwine. The firm again changed names in 1898 when Ben Kuhns and Daniel Kerschner purcaced part interest, becoming Sourwine, Kuhns and Kerschner. William Sourwine retired in 1901, the store becoming Kuhns and Kerschner, and with the death of Mr Kerschner in 1916, it was then known as the Benjamin F Kuhns Store.

In 1924, the firm was sold to Ray E. Bohlen, William O. Gross and Frank C. Moyer, and was re-organized, becoming Bohlen, Gross and Moyer. The store closed in 1974.
