The Bucket Fountain in Cuba Mall is one of Wellington’s quirkiest attractions. It is made up of suspended buckets, vertically arranged with increasing capacity towards the base of the fountain. When a bucket gets full it tips its contents into the one below and so on down to the bottom bucket which empties into the surrounding pool. Occasionally there will be cascades of water as one pours into the next, into the next - often overflows soak the surrounding area and any observers.
