Clymer's Carousel was a children's clothing store, opened in June 1960 at 929 Hamilton Street. Owned by Paul K. Clymer and his wife Marilyn, the store prospered for nearly 30 years. Paul Clymer was previously the children's clothing manager at Hess Brothers Department store, and brought fine clothing to his stores which sold well. In 1967, as suburban shopping malls began to spread across the country, the store expanded with eventually seven mall stores in Eastern Pennsylvania and Western New Jersey, eventually comprising an eight-store chain.

Clymer died of a heart attack in 1985 and his son took over the business. The company began to contract in 1988 due to increased competition from national chain stores, with six of the mall stores closing that year. By the end of 1989, the remaining two stores closed, the last one being the original store on Hamilton Street. The Hamilton Street store was vacant for several years; the Clymer's eventually selling the property in December 1996
