English: The equestrian statue of George Washington is located below Pilgrim Steps by the Pilgrim Road on the National Cathedral grounds (i.e., Cathedral Close) in Washington, D.C. Cast in bronze by sculptor Herbert Chevalier Haseltine (1877–1962) and mounted on a granite pedestal, it is considered as an outstanding example of equestrian statues in the world. The equine figure has agates for eyes. The setting is paved with Salisbury granite Durax blocks. The statue was donated by James Sheldon, benefactor of the Cathedral Close. It was dedicated on February 22, 1959.
