Description

Français : Sépulture du maréchal d'Empire François-Joseph Lefebvre (1755-1820) et son épouse Cathérine Hübscher, dite Madame Sans-Gêne (1753-1835). De son vivant, il déclara vouloir être enterré dans le carré des Maréchaux du Père-Lachaise : « Souvenez-vous, avait-il dit, que si je meurs à Paris je veux être enterré là, près de Masséna. Nous vécûmes ensemble dans les camps, dans les combats ; nos cendres doivent obtenir le même asile...». « Tombeau de forme antique, en marbre blanc, dans la face antérieure duquel est sculpté un bas-relief (H. 1m 23. L. 1m 50) : au centre, le médaillon du maréchal ; de chaque côté, une Victoire ailée, demi-nue, pose une branche de laurier sur le front de Lefebvre. Une guirlande de laurier et de cyprès, suspendue aux épaules des Victoires, retombe et forme support au médaillon. Au-dessous, l'épée nue du maréchal. Ces sculptures sont dues au ciseau de David d'Angers. » (Jouin, 1897).
