English: Sir Hector Clare Cameron (1843-1928) was a surgeon. He studied at St Andrews, Edinburgh and at the University. He was a house surgeon in Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1867 under Professor Joseph Lister, and he was a surgeon there from 1874 until 1881, before moving to the wards of the Western Infirmary. Cameron was a President of the Faculty of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, from 1897 until 1900. He was knighted in 1900, the year he was appointed to the University chair, and appointed CBE in 1918.
