Category:Mawer (architectural sculptors)
The Mawer Group produced architectural sculpture in England in the middle of the 19th century. This group included the father, Robert Mawer, the mother Catherine Mawer, the son Charles Mawer, and Robert's nephew William Ingle. The group also included Robert and Catherine's apprentices Benjamin Payler and Matthew Taylor, who later became locally-based independent sculptors. Also related to this group is Benjamin Burstall who later sculpted in partnership with Matthew Taylor. The group produced some or all of the architectural sculpture on the buildings listed in the sub categories.
Although their neighbour John Wormald Appleyard was not part of the group, it is almost certain that the Mawer Group and Appleyard occasionally cooperated on some major projects, e.g. Leeds Town Hall exterior, and Leeds Municipal Buildings interior (now Leeds Central Library).
