English: Moyne Friary was founded c. 1450 (during the reign of Pope Nicholas V) by the Mac William de Burgo family as house of Franciscan Friars. This was one of the first friaries which was founded Observant or became Observant shortly after its foundation. The friary was burned in 1590 by Sir Richard Bingham and since then a ruin. In 1595 the friary was granted to Edmund Barrett but in the 17th century the church and some of the cells were rented out to a small community of friars which stayed there or in its vicinity until the late 18th century.
