English: Nysa is light commercial vehicle produced in Nysa, Poland between 1957 and 1994. Throughout its production the factory changed its name three times. Between 1954 and 1968 the factory was known as "Zakłady Budowy Nadwozi Samochodowych w Nysie" (abbreviated as ZBNS), between 1968 and 1986 as "Fabryka Samochodów Dostawczych Polmo" (abbreviated as FSD) and since 1986 as "Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych, Zakład Samochodów Dostawczych w Nysie" (abbreviated as ZSD).

There were several different models of Nysa:

  • Nysa N57 - first production model produced in 1957. All vehicles from this series were produced in the "mikrobus" (minibus) configuration and as such had windows along the entire side of vehicle and an outwards opening side door on the right hand side.
  • Nysa N58 - second production model produced in 1958. All vehicles from this series were produced in the "furgon" (van) configuration which had no side windows behind the driver's cabin and no side door behind the driver's cabin. Vehicles from this series can be differentiated from the previous one by a more flat front of the vehicle and less decorative elements such as sidestrips.
  • Nysa N59 - third production model produced in 1959. The improvements in this series compared to the previous one included wider wheels and new round indicators instead of the old horizontal ones. Early examples had four indicators - two mounted high on the side of the vehicle and two below the headlights. However later examples lacked the indicators on below the headlights. This series had three variants:
    • Nysa N59-M - "mikrobus" (minibus, windows along the entire side of vehicle and an outwards opening side door on the right hand side).
    • Nysa N59-F - "furgon" (van, no side windows behind the driver's cabin and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
    • Nysa N59-S - "sanitarka" (ambulance, similar to N59-M but the side windows behind the driver's were white up to the two thirds of their height).
  • Nysa N60 - fourth production model produced in 1960. This series had four variants:
    • Nysa N60-M - "mikrobus" (minibus, windows along the entire side of vehicle and an outwards opening side door on the right hand side).
    • Nysa N60-F - "furgon" (van, no side windows behind the driver's cabin and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
    • Nysa N60-S - "sanitarka" (ambulance, similar to N60-M but the side windows behind the driver's were white up to the two thirds of their height).
    • Nysa N60-T - "towos" (Polish shorthand for for "samochód towarowo-osobowy" (vehicle for transport of people and cargo), two pairs of windows behind the driver's cabin instead of three in the N60-M and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
  • Nysa N61 - fifth production model produced between 1961 and 1964. This series had five variants:
    • Nysa N61-M - "mikrobus" (minibus, windows along the entire side of vehicle and an outwards opening side door on the right hand side).
      • Nysa San N61-M - a number of the N61-M minibuses were finished at the San factory. These examples have characteristic large grill similar to the one used in the San H25 bus. A large number of these examples were exported. The exported examples usually were painted with two colors instead of one. There was also a special Nysa San N61-M Tropic variant for export to countries with a hot climate.
    • Nysa N61-F - "furgon" (van, no side windows behind the driver's cabin and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
    • Nysa N61-S - "sanitarka" (ambulance, similar to N61-M but the side windows behind the driver's were white up to the two thirds of their height).
    • Nysa N61-T - "towos" (Polish shorthand for for "samochód towarowo-osobowy" (vehicle for transport of people and cargo), two pairs of windows behind the driver's cabin instead of three in the N61-M and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
    • Nysa N61-K - "kinowóz" (film projector vehicle, this variant had three compartments: the driver's compartment, the projector compartment and the generator compartment in the back, externally it is very similar to the N61-T. however it can be differentiated from it by the air inlets on the sides near the back of the vehicle as well as megaphone mountings on the roof).
  • Nysa N63 - prototype series. It didn't enter production but many of its improvements carried over to Nysa 501 series.
  • Nysa 501 - sixth production model produced between 1964 and 1969. Many of its improvements like bended front window were introduced in the Nysa N63 prototype series. Other improvements included changing the rear lights in 1967 to the ones used in FSO Warszawa 203/204/223/224. This series had eight variants:
    • Nysa 501 M - "mikrobus" (minibus, windows along the entire side of vehicle and an outwards opening side door on the right hand side).
      • Nysa San 501 M - a number of the 501 M minibuses were finished at the San factory. These examples have characteristic large grill similar to the one used in the San H25 bus. A large number of these examples were exported. The exported examples usually were painted with two colors instead of one. There was also a special Nysa San 501 M Tropic variant for export to countries with a hot climate.
    • Nysa 501 F - "furgon" (van, no side windows behind the driver's cabin and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
    • Nysa 501 S - "sanitarka" (ambulance, similar to 501 M but the side windows behind the driver's were white up to the two thirds of their height).
    • Nysa 501 T - "towos" (Polish shorthand for for "samochód towarowo-osobowy" (vehicle for transport of people and cargo), two pairs of windows behind the driver's cabin instead of three in the 501 M and no side door behind the driver's cabin).
    • Nysa 501 K - "kinowóz" (film projector vehicle, this variant had three compartments: the driver's compartment, the projector compartment and the generator compartment in the back, externally it is very similar to the 501 T. however it can be differentiated from it by the air inlets on the sides near the back of the vehicle as well as megaphone mountings on the roof).
    • Nysa 501 C - "frugon chłodzony" (van for transported frosted goods, similar to 501 F, it had a small side door, on the right-hand side of the vehicle behind the driver's cabin, through which ice for cooling the cargo was placed, production started in 1967).
    • Nysa 501 OW - "wypadowy" (police variant for transport of police officers, two sliding side doors on both sides of the vehicle behind the driver's cabin, side windows behind those side doors and double doors in the rear instead of the single one)
    • Nysa 501 KW - "konwojowy" (police variant for transport of police officers and detained civilians, two sliding side doors on both sides of the vehicle behind the driver's cabin, the detainee compartment in the back had a metal grate on the inside of the window in the rear door)
  • Nysa 503 - prototype.
  • Nysa 521 - seventh production model produced between 1969 and 1978. Mechanically it was identical to Nysa 501 however this series featured a completely new body with an extended front. Early examples had a three-part front bumper held together by rubber parts. It was eventually replaced by a single-piece bumper. In early 1970s an importer from West Germany requested a version of Nysa 521 with a 10 cm higher roof. There exists a common misconception that the higher roof was distinguishing characteristic of the 522 model however the truth is both 521 and 522 models were produced with normal and higher roofs until 1978 when the production of the 521 model stopped and the higher roof was present in all produced vehicles. The differences between 521 and 522 models were mostly mechanical and aside from differences present in the driver's cabin it's almost impossible to distinguish the two from outside. This series had nine variants:
    • Nysa 521 M - "mikrobus" (minibus, windows along the entire side of vehicle and an outwards opening side door on the right hand side).
    • Nysa 521 F - "furgon" (van, no side windows behind the driver's cabin, sliding side door on the right-hand side with no window).
    • Nysa 521 S - "sanitarka" (ambulance, similar to 521 M but the side windows behind the driver's were white up to the two thirds of their height).
    • Nysa 521 T - "towos" (Polish shorthand for for "samochód towarowo-osobowy" (vehicle for transport of people and cargo), two pairs of windows behind the driver's cabin instead of three in the 521 M and a sliding or an outward opening side door).
    • Nysa 521 K - "kinowóz" (film projector vehicle, this variant had three compartments: the driver's compartment, the projector compartment and the generator compartment in the back, externally it is very similar to the 521 T. however it can be differentiated from it by the air inlets on the sides near the back of the vehicle as well as megaphone mountings on the roof).
    • Nysa 521 C - "frugon chłodzony" (van for transported frosted goods, similar to 521 F, it had a small side door, on the right-hand side of the vehicle behind the driver's cabin, through which ice for cooling the cargo was placed, production started in 1967).
    • Nysa 521 OW - "wypadowy" (police variant for transport of police officers, two sliding side doors on both sides of the vehicle behind the driver's cabin, side windows behind those side doors and double doors in the rear instead of the single one).
    • Nysa 521 KW - "konwojowy" (police variant for transport of police officers and detained civilians, two sliding side doors on both sides of the vehicle behind the driver's cabin, the detainee compartment in the back had a metal grate on the inside of the window in the rear door)
    • Nysa 521 R - "rolniczy" (agricultural variant with a crate, two subvariants existed with one having a double cabin with three doors (door configuration was the same as in the 521 M variant) and a shorter crate while the other had a longer crate with a normal-sized cabin with rounded edges, it was designed in the early 1970s specifically for the West German market)
  • Nysa 522 - eighth and last production model produced between 1975 and 1994. As mentioned above this model differed from 521 mostly mechanically although there were changes introduced in this model that make later examples easier to identify: In 1984 a new "high" dashboard was introduced, in 1986 large front indicators were replaced by smaller ones, also in 1986 the rear of the vehicle was slightly changed with the reversing fog light being moved to the right, an opening was added to serve as a step and a rear fog light was added on the left side. In the 1990s new examples of Nysa 522 began receiving new type of wheels that were incompatible with the old wheel caps and instead used new ones very similar to the ones present on post April 1983 examples of FSO 125p. During the production of Nysa 522 three new variants were introduced, "Ruchome Stanowisko Dowodzenia" (Nysa 522 RSD, police mobile command center variant, from outside it is almost unpublishable from the OW variant however this one lacked the seats for the police officers and instead had a map table inside), Nysa 522 E (variant for electricity service personnel, very similar to the "towos" variant however it lacked the second pair of side windows and instead had one in the side door and one opposite it) and a variant for a freezer container.
Production ended in 1994 however additional vehicles were being made in the factory from leftover spare parts as late as 1995.
