Queen street is part of the original New Town in central area of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. The New Town is often considered to be a masterpiece of city planning. Queen Street is named after King George III's wife Queen Charlotte. James Craig won the competition to design the New Town in 1766. The Scottish National Portrait Gallery is located on Queen Street.
