English: Resistance welding is the welding of metals with ohmic heating, using the heat generated by the passage of an electrical current.

The most commonly known form is spot welding, but linear welds formed by rollers are also very common for sealing tin cans in packaging.

Resistance welding is comparable in many ways to friction welding, but that uses mechanical friction to generate heat, rather than electricity.
