English: Roscoe W. Thatcher was the last president of the Massachusetts Agricultural College and the first when the institution changed its name to Massachusetts State College in 1931 (later named University of Massachusetts Amherst)[1]. He was director of the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station at Cornell University in the 1920s.
