English: Shortwave listening, or SWLing, is the hobby of listening to shortwave radio transmissions. Listeners range from casual users seeking international news and entertainment programming, to hobbyists immersed in the technical aspects of radio reception and DXing. The term was formed for historical reasons and covers also listeners to signals outside the shortwave band.
Français : Un radioécouteur désignée aussi par SWL (pour Short Waves Listener) est un passionné qui écoute les transmissions par ondes radioélectriques au moyen d'un Récepteur radio approprié et d'une antenne dédiée aux bandes qu'il désire écouter, ce passionné s'intéresse également aux techniques de réception, aux antennes, à la propagation ionosphérique, au matériel en général, et passe beaucoup de temps (souvent la nuit) à écouter la radio.
