The Memorial Complex «Siberian Convict Route»
The monument was erected in August 1978. Sculptor Yuri Ishkhanov, architect Areg Demirkhanov.
Moscow-Siberian highway called “the chains”, “the prison”, “the convict” way, but above all it was a great way, that connected European Russia to Siberia and China. In addition to commercial traffic, from one stage to another, exiles moved on foot. Party consisted of 200-300 people who were on the Siberian highway from Petersburg to Irkutsk two years, maybe more, stopping at the landmark prisons every twenty miles. The chains route also passes through Krasnoyarsk.
