Société Gobron-Brillié was formed by French engineer, Eugène Brillié, and industrialist, Gustave Gobron as an engine and automobile manufacturing enterprise in 1898 in Boulougne-sur-Seine (today Boulogne-Billancourt). They built up a reputation for building one of the finest automobiles in France, using a opposite piston engine. They also successfully entered automobobile races.
In 1903, the separated. The old company in Boulogne changed the brand name immediately to Gobron, which never stuck in public. In 1919, the name changed to Automobiles Gobron when it moved the new premises in Levallois-Perret.
Eugène Brillié founded his own company, Automobiles Eugène Brillié 1903 in Paris, using the brand names Brillié and Brillié-Schneider.
