This broad (parent) category refers to the stamps issued by the Empire of Austria since 1850, Austria-Hungary after 1867, postoffices abroad (in the Ottoman empire etc), in the republic of Austria (proper) after the post WWI treaties. Ideally, a subcategory should be chosen.

Modern stamps of this country are not in public domain or their status is unknown. They are protected by international copyright laws at least until 70 years after author's death. Authors of stamps are both: an engraver and a graphic artist. Please do not upload photographs or scans of stamps of this country, except {{PD-old-70}}. English: Note: The Austrian postal service (Österreichische Post) has limited copyright for all stamps and the displayed images. The stamps can be used for sale, manufacture and advertising. For all other imaging requests (such as printing works, books or encyclopedias) the respective postage stamp designer himself needs to be contacted, since it is not advertising. This eliminates a general license as template for the German stamps. For each stamp a release must be obtained individually. The contact addresses of the designers are subject to data privacy.

Damit scheidet eine generelle Lizenzvorlage, wie für die deutschen Briefmarken, aus und es muss für jede Marke individuell eine Freigabe eingeholt werden.
